In some cases, you may not want to specify the internal assembly details of a section (for example, a benchtop). In this situation, simply specify zero thickness for all faces of the section, and usually seal all round. This gives you a simple, solid box. However, you may want to include details of construction and assembly of your cabinet. By using multiple sections, thicknesses and overhangs, you can duplicate any method of cabinet construction.
The key to this is having two sections with the same heights and vertical position. For example, if you want to specify how carcass backs are joined to the ends, create "Carc_Ends" and "Carc_Back" sections. Give both the same height, and position them both above the kickboard section. Seal Carc_Ends on the left and right faces, and seal Carc_Back on the back face only. Now you can use the overhang and thickness of the faces to accurately specify the size and position of the parts to reflect the construction method you use.
Examples:
To tack a 4mm full-size back onto 16mm ends:
- Carc_Ends:
- Recess (unsealed) back face by 4mm
- Set left and right thickness to 16mm
- Carc_Back:
- Set back thickness to 4mm
To insert a 4mm back into slots in 16mm ends:
- Carc_Ends:
- Set left and right thickness to 16mm
- Carc_Back:
- Recess back face by 12mm
- Set back thickness to 4mm
- Recess (unsealed) left and right faces by 8mm
To make a 16mm back with 16mm ends:
- Carc_Ends:
- Set left and right thickness to 16mm
- Carc_Back:
- Set back thickness to 16mm
- Recess (unsealed) left and right faces by 16mm
