    Viewing the Elevation
    In This Topic

Elevations have the option to reveal cabinets based on their distance from the elevation line.

    Include objects based on distance

The Infront and Behind field values, shown below, determines how close a cabinet has to be to a wall for it to be counted in dimensioning. If you have some cabinets which do not reach all the way back to a wall, you can increase the "InFront" value to the width of the gap so that they will be taken into account when that wall is dimensioned.

As a default, elevations will display anything within 16mm Infront or Behind the elevation. This means that cabinets that are not within the set distance will not appear in the Elevation View, as discussed in this topic.

Generally a very small distance can be applied here, as you will often only want objects which are connected to the line and not objects close by.

Be careful as some items have a clearance from the wall, so you will have to increase this value if you want them included.

    Elevation Line

When creating a wall, an elevation line will be created (shown in the image, below left, as a red line). Whatever it touches will be shown in your elevation.

In this example the wall cabinet is within the 16mm of the red elevation line and both cabinets can be seen in the elevation.

However, in the example below the wall cabinet is 36mm away from the wall and therefore not within 16mm of the elevation line. As it is now too far from the elevation line, the wall cabinet cannot be seen in the elevation..

Click to view amended InFront value to enable the wall cabinet to be shown.

If this is a legitimate placement, then to make the cabinet show, you would need to increase the InFront value from the default 16mm to a minimum of 36mm.

Typical cabinet selections that can initially have this problem are Tall Fillers and sometimes Wall Fillers. This is because, without the lower parts, they are just vertical pieces a long distance away from the wall, typically 580mm and 300mm respectively.

    Walls and Islands

If you set the Behind value greater than the thickness of the wall, any cabinets backing up to the wall will show in the elevation.

In this example, when the Behind value is set to 116mm, the Floor Drawer cabinet can be seen in the elevation.

This is usually the issue with Island cabinets when adding in manual elevation lines.
